COMPANY OVERVIEW:
 China Western Trades, Inc. is a company formed for the purpose of finding and importing only products that are high in quality with a hint of the unusual. The founder of China Western has spent years in China and other parts of Asia living and working for US companies.
Over the years in Asia, the ordinary and extraordinary were carefully studied and noted. In a very remote region of China it was discovered that grinding grains, teas, spices and other food products were particularly interesting. The work was accomplished using nothing but stone mills. Some of the stone mills were small and hand operated, some weighed several hundred pounds and in some cases over a ton. The larger mills were powered by animals and would become a community project whereby the neighbors would bring their own grain.
The mills were more than interesting because of the stone that was used. In China it is referred to as maifan and is believed to be the magical stone; In some cases it was considered to be a longevity stone. It is firmly believed that the content of this stone is beneficial to human health even when only using it for grinding grains. The history goes back much farther to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) where it was truly revered. Today it is used not only for grinding grains and spices but: water filtration, crafting urns and pots for food preparation, the storing of liquor to stabilize the liquid and remove bacteria, for tea pots and cups, and for removal of odors while cooking strong smelling vegetables. Maifan Stone is truly something to treasure.
